until next time... (E)
Well of course this was only a small arc in life, yet it felt like such a prominent one. The art of language and rhetoric is never one that is truly mastered by anyone, but I know for a fact that I will continue to improve this craft. For me, this class has been the most relevant class to life that I have had to date. Despite planning my future to lay in the stars (please hire me Elon Musk), language has always been a major interest of mine. From the age of nine I have had an interest in learning different languages, starting off boldly with Mandarin and to this day the list grows. Thus, the universality of rhetoric is something which will be a constant for the rest of my life. Through our interactions and collaborations with people, we all strive to do what is best for us all and sometimes it just takes a bit of verbal pretty packaging in order to achieve this.
I am also someone who enjoys the arts heavily, as I'm sure is obvious by how hard I worked to make this blog visually and audibly appealing, and AP Language allowed me to tap into this. With words on my palette, I was able to craft some really beautiful things in this class which I am very proud of.
Not to mention with my passion to lead and inspire, rhetoric is crucial to this path. The mastery of shaping the emotions of others is genuinely a skill which I hope to at least scratch the surface of and I thank this class for sharpening my tools. To be able to wield rhetoric in order to convey a certain point with the synthesis of the minds of those who stand with me, that is what this class prepared me for. To catch manipulation, to comprehend the ideas of others, to make use of my voice...the list goes on.
There were lessons in this class that I learned which weren't even directly in the context of the exam itself as well. The importance of staying aware of the going-ons of the world was perhaps the most crucial lesson learned. As an information junkie, this was also the most gratifying element to our education. After all, as seventeen year olds, there is only one more year until we become full-fledged citizens who have a clear say in what affects our lives and I intend to embark on that with at least some sort of societal awareness. Not only that, but I also learned the usefulness of discussion. While it's all fun and games to pretend that there is nothing wrong in the world when with friends, it can be truly satisfying to have healthy discussions with others on subjects we would sometimes rather leave unsaid. I have eternal thanks to McMahon and this class for planting that initiative.
However, while I give this class high praise, I admit that I do feel a sense of relief that the school year is over. Nothing good happens without hard work and boy did this class require it. At one point, I recall my mother saying jokingly that I was like Andrea Sachs from The Devil Wears Prada, bustling around the house to get assignments done for the Miranda Priestly of the English language. I spent many a sleepless night working hard to improve my skills and to complete our assignments, but frankly this was probably a good form of college preparation. Nevertheless, I look forward to sleeping in during the summer and catching up on all the anime shows I missed during this rigorous junior year.
So this is it. A final goodbye. BUT rest assured this will not be the last time you see my work. I do not intend to put these lessons to waste and hopefully someday, oh beloved reader, you find my words again. Until next time...
this is so pretty wow im so proud of you
